ADHD Assessment
Understand your child’s academic struggles and help them reach their full potential
Get an action plan and move forward with confidence
It’s only natural for you to worry about your children and want them best for them.
So, there’s bound to be concern when school reports about your son or daughter contain any of the following comments:
- Lacks motivation
- Has trouble concentrating
- Gives up too easily
- Avoids schoolwork
- Complains about tiredness
- Has difficulty understanding what’s required
- Is forgetful
- Struggles to follow instructions
- Is constantly fidgeting
- Is impulsive
- Is hyperactive
- Has low self-esteem
- Struggles with emotional regulation
While many of the symptoms above are common in all children and young people, they could be caused by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
About ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affects millions of children across the world and lasts into adulthood. Almost all healthy children will display one or more of the symptoms mentioned above at one time or another.
This does NOT mean they have ADHD.
No child should be diagnosed with ADHD
without a professional assessment.
If you or your child’s teacher, Psychologist or Doctor suspect ADHD, getting a professional assessment sooner rather than later is vital. That’s where Noah Mankowitz can help.
There are 3 types of ADHD
- Predominantly inattentive
Makes careless mistakes, fails to pay close attention, doesn’t listen, struggles to follow instructions, is easily distracted, often loses things like toys and school equipment, forgets to do chores - Predominantly hyperactive or compulsive
Squirms or fidgets when sitting, taps hands or feet, constantly on-the-go, runs and climbs in appropriate places, talks a lot, interrupts people - A combination of symptoms from both the above
Early diagnosis and treatment make a big difference
As with many conditions, the earlier ADHD can be diagnosed, the better the outcomes usually are. Having your child professionally assessed will allow you and them to learn their strengths and employ various strategies to successfully manage the condition and help them portray their true abilities.
Although there are different ways to assess ADHD, the method supported by the most evidence-based practice is the Cognitive Assessment known as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children | Fifth Edition (WISC-V) and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale | Fourth Edition
WAIS–IV.
